Alliant Cologuard Guidance

Why did I receive a Cologuard test?

Early detection saves lives. That’s why Alliant is committed to helping you (qualifying Member) take advantage of colorectal cancer screening through our Cologuard® initiative. Approved by the FDA in 2004, the Cologuard test is now covered by over 500 insurance providers and has helped millions across the country access this vital preventive care.

Based on a recent review of our Member database, you have been identified as eligible to participate in this important screening program. As part of our outreach, our trusted partner, Exact Sciences, sent you a letter with details about your qualification and how to take the next step toward early detection.

Should I take the test?

Participation in the Cologuard® initiative is completely voluntary and offered at no cost to you as an Alliant Health Plans Member. Please note that eligibility requires that you are an active Alliant Member, and the test kit is intended exclusively for the individual whose name appears on the shipping label.

If you’ve already completed a colon cancer screening or have one scheduled for the near future, feel free to dispose of the kit. Simply remove or destroy any personal information on the label before recycling the remaining components.

How will I (and my physician) receive the results?

If your Cologuard® test result is abnormal, Exact Sciences will let you know electronically right away. In addition, a medical professional from Exact Sciences will make up to three phone calls to ensure you receive your result. If they’re unable to reach you, a certified letter will also be sent via USPS for added assurance. Normal results will be mailed to you by USPS.

If your result is abnormal, a follow-up colonoscopy will be fully covered under your preventive care benefits as part of your Alliant Health Plan.

You may also choose to have your results sent directly to your healthcare provider by calling Exact Sciences Customer Support at 1-844-340-1594.
